Under 14
February 22nd
The Blues squad scrimmage the Purley Juniors in Purley's first juniors match. The Purley team was quite athletic but the Blues experience and lacrosse skill prevailed in the end. It was a high scoring scrimmage for 7 a side lacrosse with some good goalkeeping by both teams. The Blues team really came alive once the game got under way and played with a tenacity and urgency unlike any all season. The Blues really spread out the scoring with some players getting there first goal of the season. The play of the day belongs to "Bob" who had an incredible sequence of dodge and stick fakes which culminated in an impressive goal. The Purley coach had to say about the play, "Dude, I didn't know you had Mikey Powell on your team".

The Blues U14 finally played a home game and the team came out in full force with all 12 players attending the match against Spencer. Unfortunately Spencer did not have a full squad so the team was forced to play an 8 aside game. Ryan Payne was the goal leader in the game with 4 goals and Conor Newton also added scores. Midfielder Ben Scola was the work-horse of the game playing both ends of the field and taking face-offs. Newcomer Elliot Dunne played very well for his first game picking up ground balls and running passed Spencer players.
The play of the game came from a transition play where Ben Scola scoped up the ball on the defensive end and dodged players until he passed the ball to David (Bob) Meider who quickly moved the ball onto Conor Newton for the shot and score. On Defense Sarah Bailey and William Reis played very well picking up ground balls and clearing the ball out of the defensive zone. Although Ryan Payne scored 4 goals the player of the game was Daniel Dring who was the utility player of the team playing midfield, attack and where he had his biggest impact long stick defense.
Daniel was all over the place knocking down passes, scooping up ground balls, making passes and running the ball over over midline by himself. He definitely had the heart of the lion during the match against Spencer. U12 Goalkeeper Liam Rawlings came up and helped out the 14's making some key saves. Unfortunately the Blues could not come out with the victory.
