Tip of the week
Tip of the Week
When playing defense it is important to communicate with the other defenders as well as being aware of what the offensive players are doing (not just the player you are marking). A good way to not lose track of your man or the ball is to constantly move your head on a swivel. Look at the ball for a second or two then check on your man and react to what they are doing, you must do this constantly if you want to be a good defender. This way you can see what is going on and communicate what you are seeing to the other defenders. It is a simple skill but it is not easy to keep it up for the entire game.
During you warm up before training, practice throwing the entire time with your off stick hand. Doing this will only make you a better lacrosse player. When you warm up you will not have to worry about someone acking away at you like in a game so you can really focus on passing and catching with your off stick hand.

When playing in a game "MOVE OFF BALL" the most important person on the field is not always the person with the ball. Always work to get open off ball. A trick to get open cut to an open space when your defender looks towards the ball and away from you. If you do this you may find yourself with an open shot to the goal.
Find a standing (long) mirror, turn your body sideways still looking at the mirror to practice hiding your stick when cradling with one or two hands. Try to completely hide your stick with your body this will give you better stick protection in games and a vantage point for what the defence sees when you are facing them.
Chris went to Union College where he played lacrosse for four years.
In his junior year he lead the team in goals(29) and points(33), and was name the team's Offensive MVP for the season.
